Honduras has a wide variety of local music talent, and so this afternoon we would like to share with you some samples for your enjoyment.

 

Sopa de Caracol – Polache

Garifuna (Afro-Honduran) traditional music is called punta. This punta song is famous throughout Latin America and is from Honduras! This is the remixed version with local artist Polache. The original version can be found here.

 

El Encarguito – Guillermo Anderson

This song by Guillermo Anderson talks about all the food that a Honduran is bringing to the US to another Honduran who misses Honduran food. They hope that all this food passes through customs!

 

El amor esta en tu boca – Cafe Guancasco

Cafe Guancasco is a band that sings protest music. This song addresses social themes, while at the same time affirming, “Love lives here.”

 

Un poco de amor – Montuca Sound System

This group from San Pedro Sula sings about how, in the midst of all the problems, Honduras really needs a little bit of love.
