Es riesgoso usar el tel\u00e9fono, ya que es un blanco f\u00e1cil para los robos.<\/p>\n<p>Hoy es s\u00e1bado, el d\u00eda en que David va a la ciudad hondure\u00f1a de El Progreso, donde toma clases de electricidad. Es un viaje de cuatro horas desde su hogar, donde sus hijas peque\u00f1as y su madre lo esperan en su comunidad rural, en la cual muchos viven en la pobreza. No usamos su nombre real ni el de su pueblo, para su protecci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>David toma clases un d\u00eda a la semana gracias a la Comisi\u00f3n de Acci\u00f3n Social Menonita (CASM). Estas habilidades les proporcionan mayores oportunidades para ganarse el sustento, aun cuando sea dif\u00edcil encontrar empleo. Tener un ingreso estable en Honduras permite que las personas vivan en lugares m\u00e1s seguros y aumenten sus medidas de seguridad.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>David se fue de Honduras tras la elecci\u00f3n de 2017 porque no estaba a salvo. Como empleado del gobierno, fue testigo de irregularidades en las votaciones en la \u00faltima elecci\u00f3n presidencial y empez\u00f3 a ver c\u00f3mo otros que ten\u00edan informaci\u00f3n del proceso eran asesinados. Viv\u00eda con miedo, no solamente por su propia vida, sino por la seguridad de quienes lo rodeaban.<\/p>\n<p>Poco despu\u00e9s, decidi\u00f3 irse solo a buscar sustento fuera de Honduras, esperando que su ausencia redujera el riesgo para su familia. Fue una decisi\u00f3n dif\u00edcil, pero \u00e9l cre\u00eda que la \u00fanica manera de mantener a su familia era aceptar un trabajo en una f\u00e1brica a miles de kil\u00f3metros de distancia, en Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cLo que empuja a los hondure\u00f1os a migrar, en muchos casos, es la violencia, el desempleo y el miedo.\u00a0En mi caso, tuve que migrar por razones pol\u00edticas\u201d.<br \/>\n\u2014David<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLo que empuja a los hondure\u00f1os a migrar, en muchos casos, es la violencia, el desempleo y el miedo\u201d, le dijo David a una gira de aprendizaje sobre migrantes del CCM que visit\u00f3 Honduras en noviembre. \u201cPodemos encontrar trabajo por uno o dos d\u00edas, quiz\u00e1s, pero luego lo perdemos. En mi caso, tuve que migrar por razones pol\u00edticas\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Cuando lleg\u00f3 a EE. UU., David descubri\u00f3 que el proceso de asilo era tan largo y complicado \u2013y la asesor\u00eda legal tan costosa\u2013 que durante\u00a0los cuatro meses que trabaj\u00f3 en EE. UU. no lo complet\u00f3. Le preocupaba su familia, as\u00ed que decidi\u00f3 regresar a Honduras con dinero para que pudieran emigrar juntos.<\/p>\n<p>En el viaje de regreso, dice, fue asaltado y detenido por oficiales de migraci\u00f3n en M\u00e9xico. Tras dos largos meses, lo liberaron poni\u00e9ndole una pistola en la cabeza y amenaz\u00e1ndolo para que no volviera. Sin un centavo y tras varias semanas, logr\u00f3 regresar a su familia en Honduras. La organizaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n trata problemas de salud, heridas y el hambre. La CASM proporciona a las familias el dinero suficiente para comprar alimentos por unas pocas semanas, y psic\u00f3logos que acompa\u00f1an a cada uno de ellos en su transici\u00f3n individual.<\/p>\n<p>Algunos retornados \u2013por ejemplo, aquellos que eran ni\u00f1os muy peque\u00f1os cuando salieron\u2013 nunca han conocido realmente su pa\u00eds de origen. Para otros, han pasado d\u00e9cadas desde que vivieron en Honduras y pueden percibirla como ajena y aterradora. Algunos retornan tras sobrevivir en el camino al tr\u00e1fico humano, violaciones, secuestros, mutilaciones de miembros, muertes de seres amados y otras tragedias que marcan sus vidas. Otros han dejado hijos, hijas, esposos, esposas y otros familiares amados en EE. UU.<\/p>\n<p>Los psic\u00f3logos han ayudado a los y las participantes a desarrollar estrategias para enfrentar los traumas y han usado imaginer\u00eda mental para que se visualicen en su pasado, presente y futuro, lo cual les ayuda a trabajar en busca de un mejor ma\u00f1ana.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTodos necesitan ganar el dinero suficiente para mantener a salvo a su familia. Es m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil hacerlo cuando todo se vuelve contra tu \u00e9xito. Cuando llega, es recibido por su profesor de electricidad, Ever Castro. Tras un poco de conversaci\u00f3n amistosa, se sienta en un pupitre junto a otros cinco estudiantes para aprender de circuitos el\u00e9ctricos, estudiar libros y contestar un cuestionario acerca de nuevos t\u00e9rminos.<\/p>\n<p>A Castro le apasiona ense\u00f1ar a estos estudiantes y siente que esta es su manera de aportar algo positivo dentro de un sistema que anda mal. Cuando sus estudiantes comparten sus historias, dice que comprende cu\u00e1nto han luchado y le inspira cu\u00e1n duro est\u00e1n dispuestos a trabajar todos para alcanzar el \u00e9xito.<\/p>\n<p>Castro los inspira, a su vez, y les ense\u00f1a valiosas lecciones que van m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la electricidad. El almuerzo lo proporcionan los estudiantes de cocina de la escuela, y el resto del d\u00eda consiste en aprendizaje pr\u00e1ctico en el \u00e1rea de taller de la sala de clases, donde desarman aparatos de aire acondicionado y aprenden del proceso de volverlos a armar.<\/p>\n<p>Fue en una de estas clases que David conoci\u00f3 a Josu\u00e9, un hombre mayor de barba y con una pierna prot\u00e9sica. Al igual que David, Josu\u00e9 so\u00f1aba con encontrar empleo en EE. UU., pero perdi\u00f3 su pierna izquierda en un accidente de tren. De regreso en casa, su discapacidad, sumada a su falta de educaci\u00f3n y habilidades profesionales, le hizo especialmente\u00a0dif\u00edcil encontrar empleo. Recientemente obtuvo un empleo reparando y limpiando unidades de aire acondicionado, que es un trabajo rentable en la regi\u00f3n tropical de Sula que todo el a\u00f1o tiene temperaturas superiores a los 80 grados Fahrenheit (27\u00b0 Celsius). Hace poco complet\u00f3 oficialmente su capacitaci\u00f3n y recibi\u00f3 su propia caja de herramientas como regalo de graduaci\u00f3n de la CASM.<\/p>\n<p>David a\u00fan tiene preocupaciones respecto a su seguridad, pero el temor de no ser capaz de mantener a su familia se ha reducido gracias a la ayuda de la CASM.
